To catalogue, classify and publish the works of the artist.
The scientific interpretation of the history of art naturally leads to a transformation, a progressive verification, of the monographic study of the artist, of which the Catalogue Raisonné is the main point of reference.  The inventory, the listing of paintings, drawings and sculptures of Amedeo Modigliani profit from this mature scientific approach.
Scientific elements are antithetical to the creative and impulsive nature of the artist.  The evident lack of information at the beginning  was filled in, for the most part, by the extravagant number of people who have acquired the works of Modigliani first hand and who have managed their possession of these works of art in obscure, almost unknown or secret ways.  The multiplication of interpretations (often done lightly) at the international level,  interpretations misled by the force and persistence of some elements of the "Modigliani" myth have called for a need for a systematic verification of all biographical and bibliographical elements, and have sometimes resulted in the repositioning of certain historic elements.
The registered works have reference numbers which correspond to that of the respective file kept at the "Archives Légales Amedeo Modigliani" which can be consulted upon request.  The files have been constantly and considerably enriched through the years thanks to ongoing research work and new discoveries.
The bibliography is constantly updated; the origin and location exactly state references to collections, dates of purchase, successive owners, names and locations of collectors, whenever possible.
Given the specifically non-definitive character of all the elements which compose the file of a given work, and being permanently open to new integration both additional  or fundamental, we have chosen to publish only the basic information necessary to the precise identification of each work.

Volume  I and Volume II

They contain reproductions of catalogued works, letters and handwritten documents accompanied by unpublished texts
of reviews of specific and general character.

Volume  IV (Testimonies)

Through the parallel publication of drawings and paintings, documents (some unpublished) and testimonies of a different nature, the work reconstructs the moments, events and personalities decisive in the life of Modigliani.
